Laughton Lodge is a small residential community set in 23 acres of beautiful East Sussex countryside, on the edge of the village of Laughton and overlooking the South Downs. Around 70 people live here in their own homes, sharing land, some buildings, and aspects of daily life.
People come to live at Laughton Lodge because they’re looking for a balance: having their own space and independence, while being part of a place where neighbours know one another and life is lived a little more closely connected to nature.
Children grow up with room to roam. Adults work, create, care for the land, and come together when it feels right — for shared meals, projects, celebrations, or simply conversation.
At the heart of the site is a large community building with shared facilities. Alongside this, we have beautiful meadows, woodland, an orchard, allotments, workshops, ponds, and a herb garden, all maintained and enjoyed together.

We have a large hall, professional kitchen, dining room, meeting rooms, music room and guest rooms available for hire, with discounted rates for mid-week bookings. We regularly host yoga, pilates, and dance classes, as well as festivals and retreats, offering the chance to connect and create in a beautiful setting.
